VJ is a member of Marathon Petroleum’s Corporate Social Responsibility leadership team. VJ manages Tribal Government Affairs across Marathon Petroleum’s integrated value chain where MPC has an operational footprint within the footprint of 18 Tribal Nations. Prior to MPC he served as President of the Albuquerque and El Paso Divisions for Clear Channel Outdoor. While at Clear Channel, VJ was awarded the American Advertising Federation’s Silver Medal Award which recognizes men and women who have made outstanding contributions in their community and advertising and who have been active in furthering the industry's standards, creative excellence, and responsibility in areas of social concern. VJ played a key role in passing regulations for off-premises digital display technology for the States of New Mexico and Texas. During his business career VJ also co-owned and operated a commercial construction company completing significant projects in west Texas and New Mexico.
VJ currently serves on the Nueta Hidatsa Sahnish College CTE Board, The USO Global Advisory Council, The Brain Dance Institute Board, Co-Chairman New Mexico Oil & Gas Association Tribal Affairs, Texas Tech School of Dentistry Dean’s Council, the El Paso Community College Foundation Board, UTEP College of Engineering Board, the El Paso Chamber Foundation Board of Directors, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Ysleta Independent School District CTE Advisory Board.
VJ is a graduate of Fort Lewis College and holds a degree in Geology.
